Practicalities

We estimate the cost for each person will be around £2000.  See below for the budget breakdown.

Each person is fully responsible for their own costs, and although we will coordinate hotels and trips on the ground, you will have to arrange your own flight (links below; suggested cost of £800 built into that estimated cost).

Basic budget suggestion

Flights - see below

Accommodation £15-40/night

Price depending on options of sharing rooms or not (see more details below). Hotels may not have enough rooms for everyone to have own room, but if there is a team member or two who especially wants to have own room we can probably accommodate that.

Food: £20-25/day

Transport: £10-15 each per day for Tuk tuks + transport between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap (see details below)

Entrance fees: Could be up to around £120-160 total depending on what team choose to schedule (Ideas for Siem Reap and Phnom Penh below)

Extras we suggest are added to the budget:

  • Something small you can prepare in advance as a little (inexpensive) gift for the young Khmer guys the Kenyons work with, perhaps something cultural from the UK, or something with a spiritual meaning that links into the sessions you help lead. They would love to try some very British snacks! We can get their names + photos before you come so you can start to pray for them - we can share more about this nearer the time

  • A small budget to pay for the Cambodian staff’s meals when eating out with them. They would usually cook at home or eat street food which is very inexpensive, but we don’t recommend teams eat the local street food as some past team members have been very sick from it

  • It would bless them to be able to enjoy a £8-10 meal as a treat to them when meeting with team. Estimate this is for around 10 staff members.

Please also note this budget does not include individual spending money for optional extras such as:

  • Massages which are around <£25 for an excellent massage experience

  • Souvenir shopping at markets and local artisan boutiques, which are great for gifts - especially if you wanted to do some early Christmas shopping!

  • Evening drinks, treats, desserts etc. which are readily available in both Phnom Penh and Siem Reap and very affordable compared to London

  • We can tailor the schedule to include things which will interest the team.

PHNOM PENH

Hotel in Phnom Penh

The Kenyons can recommend 2 nice boutique hotels in the north of the city near to where they live and work. Both have a swimming pool, are comfortable, clean and other visiting teams have been happy with them:

  • £30/night inc. breakfast for a room with 1 double bed (could be shared or individual room)

  • £40/night inc. breakfast for a room with 2 beds (could be shared or individual room)

Transport: £10-15 each per day

Meals and drinks : £20-25/day for lunch + dinner

Entrance to museums in Phnom Penh:

The Killing Fields: £10. We suggest this is for everyone on first day

Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum: £10. We suggest this is for everyone on first day

Entrance to Royal Palace: £10 (Optional)

Entrance to National Museum: £5 (Optional)

TRANSPORT BETWEEN PHNOM PENH AND SIEM REAP

There are 2 options -

FLY: Return flights around £130-150 per person return (1 hour flight + getting to/from airport + wait time = around 5 hours door to door). We would also need to add Transfer to and from airport and daily cost for Tuk tuks.

Or

BUS: We can hire a mini bus to drive everyone from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap and back, and also be our driver while there - total cost for 5 days minibus+driver £300 (approx). The drive is around 6/7 hours.

SIEM REAP

Hotel in Siem Reap. There is a huge choice and price range but we can get somewhere very comfortable with breakfast and a swimming pool for this budget:

  • £30/night inc. breakfast for a room with 1 double bed (could be shared individual room)

  • £40/night inc. breakfast for a room with 2 beds (could be shared or individual room)

Food £20-25/ day

Entrance fees:

Angkor Pass - entrance into the World Heritage Site, Angkor Archaeological Park, to visit Angkor Wat and many other temples. A day pass is £30 per person

Traditional Apsara Dance Show and includes dinner: £15 per person

Sunrise temple tour (amazing for photos if there is a good sunrise and very beautiful): £15 per person

Floating Village day trip to the Tonlé Sap lake: £20 per person

Elephant Sanctuary near Siem Reap. A day trip is around £70 per person

Flights

Check for best prices with Skyscanner

Balancing price with flight length and arrival times, we recommend Thai Airways

Leaving London Heathrow 8.11.25 at 11.50 and arriving Phnom Penh 08.45

Leaving Phnom Penh 21.11.25 at 09.45 and arriving London Heathrow at 19.35

For visa, vaccination and general travel advice, see the relevant Government web page. You will need travel insurance. We will do a fuller briefing on what we need to pack when we have a prep meeting in the early autumn.
