The aim of mission at St James is to encourage the church to participate in the biblical mandate: to send people out to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ in all its fullness around the world and here in the UK.

This is not a one size fits all approach, but is adapted to the needs of each mission partner with the focus of providing holistic support (pastoral, financial, moral, logistical and prayer). Support is provided through link sponsors who act as the primary contact between the mission partner and the church, and pastorates that are committed to regularly praying for their mission partner and keeping informed of their work in order that they might meet their needs.

We have links with mission partners in India, USA, Italy, Cameroon, Uganda and Cambodia, and closer to home with Pathway, London City Mission and the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies. We also have two global partners: Operation Mobilisation and Crosslinks.

See below for the latest update from one of our world mission partners.

WORLD MISSION GROUP PARTNER – PHILIPPA CHAMBERS
Philippa is now working with the London City Mission with immigrants and Muslim women in East London to help practically and witness to the gospel. She attended St James as a placement student while studying at Bible College before moving to her new church. Thanks for relationships and friendships within the immigrant community, and for more opportunities to make contact with women who would otherwise have no contact with Christians. Also give thanks for a new female colleague Faith who is passionate and committed to the ministry.

Thanks for Chris, her husband, who is starting Ministry training with Crosslands Training and his placement at Crossway Church, Stratford.

Please pray for ways to share Jesus sensitively but also boldly, and for Muslim women to respond to the gospel even though humanly speaking it sometimes seems impossible. Pray for help too as Philippa seeks to empower and inspire others in the church to reach out to the lost, particularly where there is fear and prejudice.

Pray for adjustments to being a family of three!
