about root

Root is the youth group for 14-18s (years 10-13). The word Root comes from Colossians 2:6-7 which says, “So then, just as you have received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” Our aim is to help people to know Jesus and to keep rooted in him. We have plenty going on, so check out our regular activities below, and look out for particular events coming up:

On Sundays, Root meets at The Birchwood Centre at 8.30p.m. We chill out for a quarter of an hour, and then spend an hour or so singing, having a Bible talk, discussing, and praying. We finish by about 10p.m.

We have a Bible study on Wednesday evenings (boys and girls), from 6.30 p.m. til 8 p.m. at 52 Onslow Gardens. We start by chatting and eating (Jacqui’s cakes are legendary!), then split into groups to look at the Bible and pray together. These Bible studies are significant in being able to discuss what we are reading and see how it affects our lives.

For those who are feeling bright and breezy in the mornings, we have a prayer breakfast on Thursdays, at St James’s Church, in the Centre. We meet at 7.15 a.m. to enjoy a lovely fry-up (unless we’re in a continental or healthy mood!), and then we pray about various issues to seek God’s will in these areas of life. We finish at about 8.30, for everyone to go to school. Root meets on Sundays: 8.30-10pm Birchwood centre, Birchwood Avenue Muswell Hill N1
