Women's Weekend Away 2011

Women's Weekend Away 2011Many people start the Christian life with great enthusiasm but it all too easy in our secular society for our faith to grow lukewarm and for us to lose our cutting edge. In three studies from 2 Timothy, we will consider some specific areas where we are called to persevere; we will examine how to keep going when things are tough and we will look at the great reward that God has for those who persevere to the end.

The Speaker

Tricia Marnham was brought up in Northern Ireland and, after studying French and Spanish at St Andrews University, worked in various jobs in London and Brussels including 3 years as staff worker for Inter Varsity Fellowship (now UCCF). While studying law, she met her husband who is a vicar and after 15 years in the North East of England they returned to London in 1995. A former solicitor, Tricia now works alongside her husband, Charles, at St Michaels, Chester Square which has a cosmopolitan congregation with many people from overseas. She speaks widely at conferences, retreats and to women’s groups.

Tricia sits on the Board of IVP (Inter Varsity Press), and the Council of the Evangelical Alliance and she chairs the Management Group for The Gate, the Westminster Crisis Pregnancy Centre. Tricia and Charles have 2 daughters in their twenties. Tricia’s interests include reading, surfing, holiday golf – and cooking puddings!

What to expect...

As well as the sessions led by Tricia during the weekend there will be time to worship and pray, chat over coffee with others or take some time alone if that’s what you need. Saturday afternoon is free time, so you’ll be able to join others on a walk, take advantage of the pool or feel free to do your own thing. The workshops will be a hands-on, practical way of thinking about a specific area of our Christian life. Some will deal with things that we really need to tackle head on; like finding time for God or just trying to stay sane with all that life throws at us. Others will bring the opportunity to foster some creativity and release passion as we seek and respond to God.
