Giving at St James

We can learn together about financial generosity from Paul’s letter to the Philippian church. As a church St James raises all the finances it needs for the ministry we provide not just on Sundays but throughout the week. If you want to respond generously and give, please pray – our ministry is a spiritual task and our effectiveness is connected to our prayers.

Please prayerfully begin or review your giving as a mark of your gospel partnership. There is no set amount for each Christian to give but the standard is generosity and the motivation is always heart felt thankfulness.

To help finance our ministry here at St James we aim to:
• Honour all giving and givers equally
• Expand the number of those who give regularly and generously
• Grow regular income to balance regular expenditure
• Adjust spending patterns to current realities without impeding ministry
• Make financial reporting more readily available
• Use Gift Days for new ministries and projects rather than filling a financial gap

Start Giving
Take a supply of blue envelopes and plan to give something each week or occasionally if that is the pattern of your income. If you a UK tax payer please complete the gift aid declaration so that we can increase your gift by 25%.

Give regularly
If you have regular income then consider regular giving – it also helps us as a church to plan our spending. Use the gift aid declaration on the blue envelope so that we can increase your gift by 25% if you a UK tax payer, or you could complete the General Pledge Form and the Finance team will write to your bank to set up a Standing Order arrangement.

One Off Gifts

If you receive an unexpected windfall – a bonus or a legacy for example, give thanks and think about giving a share of this to the gospel work at St James.
