Prayer
Prayer is at the heart our life together at St James as, through Jesus, we seek to be in intimate relationship with the Father and totally dependent on the Spirit.
Our main weekly prayer meeting is Central Prayer, 6.30am on Thursday mornings. Here, we meet for an hour of worship, fellowship and intercession. Coffee and breakfast are available throughout, and the informal approach makes it easy to slip in and out for those who need to leave earlier to catch the tube. Each other weekday morning, there are intercessors in the chapel at 6am.
Once per term we have a half-night of prayer, taking time to pray in-depth for all kinds of issues in our church, community and world.
Quiet days/mornings are termly events, giving space and time to explore and enjoy God with a more contemplative style of prayer.
Many in the church meet for Prayer Triplets, to read the Bible, share personal news, hold each other accountable and seek God together. These usually happen organically where three friends decide to have a go, but help is available in finding others to join with. In addition to this we pray together in small groups, pastorates and in Focus.
We pray before each of our Sunday services in the side chapel, and anyone from the congregation is welcome to join us.
