St James's Church Legal Advice Centre has been operating three mornings a week (10-12 Mon, Wed and Sat) since 20 April 1998. Currently we hold the Monday and Satruday sessions at St James and the Wednesday session at Wilton Community Church (at the corner of Coppett's Road with Wilton Road).
Our legal advisory service is part of the Community Legal Service and has been awarded a Quality Mark for General Help in all areas of law. Our main purpose is to help our neighbours by lifting the burden of legal worry.
Volume of work We have over 200 fresh cases a year. We continue to maintain a "no job too small" approach. For problems which are too big we pur our callers in touch with specialist agencies.
The facilitiesWe provide a warm welcome and a quality advice service with "excellent results" (to quote the Legal Services Commission audit of 4 May 2004) in an informal and friendly environment. We can be contacted at any time on 020 8883 0371 or by email to
anything.legal@dial.pipex.com.
MoneyWe make no charges. Our advisers and assistants are all unpaid volunteers. Donations to the church are sometimes made, however, and these defray the costs of room use [and photocopying!]
We give thanks for the opportunity to provide practical help to our neighbours in their difficulties.
