Internationals

If you have moved to London from Korea, Poland, Germany, Turkey or anywhere else in the world, we would love to welcome you to St James Church. You could come to any of our Sunday services, and also to Monday nights… Monday night is internationals night! We have a special programme to help you make friends, practise your English and learn about Christianity. We want to help you get the most out of your time here in London.

Global Cafe

We meet on the last Monday of the month for a big party. We have a delicious meal together and celebrate something different every time. We’ve had a Scottish evening, with a traditional Scottish meal and dancing, a Christmas Party, a birthday party for the Queen, a Korean night and much much more. These evenings also include a ten minute presentation about God, which is interesting and will get you thinking and asking some of the important questions in life. These evenings are great fun, we’d love for you to come and join us!

8 - 9:30 pm in the church centre. Suggested donation £3.

Conversation Class

Every Monday (except when it’s Global Café) we have conversation class.  We sit in small groups of 6 or 7 students, all with a similar language level, and discuss a topic like sports, weddings or the weather (because we’re English, that’s our favourite topic of all!).  We prepare activities including debates, role plays, vocabulary work and all sorts of creative team games. As part of our time together, we look at a short section from the Bible. That book is full of interesting stories and ideas and looking at it makes for great discussions. Come and join our experienced team of leaders, they’ll help you get to know new people, learn new things, and improve your English.

Alpha Course

This is a ten week course for people who want to find out more about Christianity. An evening includes a meal, a presentation and a small group discussion. Many native speakers take this course, but we have a small group especially for people who are learning English. This is a wonderful opportunity to find out what Christians believe. The evenings look at questions like, ‘Who is Jesus?’ and ‘Why did he die?’ and in the small groups, any question or opinion is welcome. Come and try it!

Tuesday nights, 7:30 - 9:45pm. Intermediate level of English required.

Sunday lunches

Sunday lunch is special in England! People at St James Church would like to invite you (and your friend if you don’t want to go alone!) to come and enjoy this meal with them. Let us know if you would like that and we will organise it for you.
